Cerebral palsy facts

The cerebral palsy is a disorder of the communication between the brain and body, which will cause many disabilities in the human body and loss of muscle coordination. As per the medical definition, cerebral palsy is a “non-progressive” disorder and disabilities will stay as unchanged due to the abnormalities in the brain or the failure of communication between the brain and body.

The developmental activities of the brain begin from the early stage of the pregnancy and continue up to the age of three. Cerebral palsy facts indicate that if there is any severe impact or any other kind of damage to the brain, during this developmental period, it will push the child in to cerebral palsy.

The effect of cerebral palsy varies from child to child. The mild form of cerebral palsy will result a minor awkwardness in the movements and hand functions. But a severe condition of the cerebral palsy will cause for the complete disability and the child will fail to do the daily routines.

Symptoms like inflexible muscle, uncontrolled movements, loss or weakened gross motor skills, dysfunction of fine motor skills, and abnormal sensitivity and sensation will occur depending up on the area of the brain affected and the severity of the damage to the brain.

A cerebral palsy fact is that any injury to the developing brain may cause disabilities to the cerebral palsy child. Whether the damage to the brain is congenital or at the time of delivery due to the poor labor or any other reason the child may pushed in to the cerebral palsy and has to lead the life with disabilities.

The chances for the cerebral palsy are more for the children who were born with less weight, premature delivery or multiple births [twins or triplets]. The following conditions may cause malfunctioning of the developing brain and will lead to cerebral palsy.

The conditions for cerebral palsy are:

Infections to the mother during the pregnancy, insufficient nutrition, maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, brain bleeding, lack of oxygen to the child’s brain, and the biochemical genetic disorders.
The faulty development or damage to the motor functional region of the brain will cause impairment to the body’s abilities to control and functions.

The above reason will also cause many chronic neurological disorders, which results in cerebral palsy. A cerebral palsy fact is that it is not contagious or a hereditary problem. It is a non-progressive brain condition.

However the disabilities occurring due to the cerebral palsy will continue as unchanged and the children with cerebral palsy have to manage their life with the disabilities.
