Causes of Cerebral Palsy- Reasons that cause Cerebral Palsy

What causes cerebral palsy is the question that arises in the mind of the parents who have such children. Although there are many reasons, the main cause is the brain damage in children, which results in the awkward muscle movements. This is the usual symptom of cerebral palsy but the causes have nothing to do with the progress in the condition.

The parents should immediately report to a medical expert when they doubt cerebral palsy on noticing the symptoms of brain damage. The physician will assess the condition and can decide the causes of the disorder and the severity of the condition.

Cerebral palsy could be the result of brain damage during the birth of the child or even before it. It also happens after the birth of the child due to the careless handling of the baby after childbirth. A number of neurological investigations done determines the incidence of cerebral palsy and the severity of the condition.

Cerebral palsy is also caused due to the premature birth of the baby where the brain is not fully developed and the proper functioning of the organs are also absent. The other condition where the child is prone to cerebral palsy is when the child is born after the usual gestation period that is after 38 to 42 weeks.

It is better to have a regular check when there are incidences of twins during pregnancy. Twin children with poor nutrition should be cautious if they have had problem earlier, which can result in cerebral palsy. Improper growth and development of the fetus due to any unknown reason during pregnancy could also be a reason for cerebral palsy. Male children are more prone to cerebral palsy when compared to female children, according to research, which is still under debate.

Babies born with low APGAR have more chances of developing cerebral palsy than with the normal count although the weight of the baby do not associate with its brain development and that cannot result in cerebral palsy.
